Brother Larry James Lawson, respected member of Local 38, passed away on April 10, 2006, after a brief illness. Larry was 39 years old. A member since 1995, Brother Lawson was one of Detroit's most accomplished riggers.
Most recently, Larry was Assistant Head Carpenter of the Detoit Opera House, run by the Michigan Opera Theatre. In early 2006, he was one of the elite riggers at Ford Field for Super Bowl XL. A member of the Local 38 Apprentice Committee, Larry was the Rigging Instructor.
Away from work, Larry loved spending time with his family and friends, music, movies, washing his car and relaxing.
He is survived by his parents James and Clarissa Lawson, brother John Lawson, sisters Dorothy Lawson, Mashell Bowie, Jacqueline Greene, Wanda Lawson, Vicky Lawson, and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
